About the ACL

Looking to take your climbing to the next level in an exciting, challenging and social atmosphere? The ACL brings together climbers of all ages and abilities and pushes them to their limits—in the best way possible. Have your shot at making TRC history—join the ACL now!

The Adult Climbing League (ACL) was started in 2007 as a way to get adult climbers of all abilities competing together and pushing their abilities in a friendly, social league. The ACL has turned into one of the most popular programs at the gym and draws climbers from around the tri-state region to climb hard and compete to be the next individual or team champion.

The ACL runs several seasons throughout the year for rope climbing (top rope & lead climbing) and bouldering.

The ACL's rope season uses a handicap system that allows climbers of all abilities to compete on a level playing field. So, whether you are a 5.7 climber or a 5.12 climber, you have to be climbing at your limit to win. This handicap system means that the "best" climber at the gym doesn't always take the prizes and everyone who competes has a shot at winning. The handicap system pushes everyone to climb their best!

Rules and Regs

  • ACL runs for 3 weeks. Oct 18, Oct 25, Nov 1
  • You choose your own level: C0 (5.7) -C5 (5.12)
  • All the routes in the gym are open open to ACL, but only your top 10 climbs of that day count
  • Your top 10 climbs each week will be recorded. Repeat climbs are allowed week to week, but not in the same day
  • You can work the routes any day of the week but climbs only count during League night
  • You will be bumped if you climb more than 2 routes in the next level. If you are bumped all of your previous scores are also bumped
  • There is a 3 point bonus for leading routes!
  • You must “send” a route for it to count - that means climbing from bottom to top without falling/sitting on the rope/having your belayer help to hold you up in any way.
  • Stick around after ACL each week to meet everyone and have a drink!
  • Check the ACL website at the start of each week for the previous week’s scores & at the end of the season we’ll crown the champs!
  • Come on in or give us a call for full rules and details.

Handicap System

Add Description

We want everyone to have the chance to win if they really push themselves and train hard, so we’ve created a handicap system that puts all climbers on an even playing field.

Climbers decide for themselves the level at which they climb and points are awarded for each climb based on their chosen level.

Come on in or give us a call to get more details about the handicap system and see how things work!
